The Dixon Historic Theatre Celebrates 2023 Season with Franc D’Ambrosio’s Broadway

Reclaiming a golden past, creating a bright future! The Dixon Theatre opened in 1922 as a live vaudeville house with golden age Hollywood connections. “Our new board has made ambitious plans to turn this 1922 classic-revival gem into a 21st-century cultural hub for an underserved rural area of northwest Illinois,” said Timothy Boles, Executive Director emeritus of The Dixon Historic Theatre.

On Saturday, April 15, the legendary Phantom of the Opera star Franc D’Ambrosio performed his iconic Broadway show with the Rendezvous Arts Festival Orchestra directed by conductor and musical director Ryan Shirar. “I could not think of a better way to re-introduce ourselves to the community post-pandemic than with Broadway star Franc D’Ambrosio’s awesome voice and incredible ability to connect personally with his audience. He made us all fall in love with coming to the theatre again!”

Franc extended his stay in Dixon to conduct a master class at Dixon High School and actor’s workshops for Dixon’s Stage Left theatre company and the Dixon Children’s Theatre. “We always seek to combine our events with community outreach, and Franc has a particular gift for encouraging young people in the arts,” Boles said.
