 Bio
Love Theme from the Godfather

The Godfather III

Paramount Pictures had conducted an
international talent search
- for more than a year.

When Franc was initially called in to audition for a film called Secret Journal 2,
he had no idea that the real title of the film was The Godfather Part III.

He had no notion that he would be meeting famed director Francis Ford Coppola
and eventually be cast in the role of Anthony Corleone, Al Pacino’s opera singing son.

MICHAEL: It’s been a long time, hasn't it?
KAY: Uh huh. Yeah
MICHAEL: Eight years.
KAY: Yeah.
MICHAEL: You look, wonderful
KAY: Your son has something he wants to talk to you about. I came here for him.

CUT TO: Michael’s office.
Anthony is waiting.
Michael enters, looking annoyed.

MICHAEL:
What’s wrong with being a lawyer?
KAY: Nothing, except he doesn't want it. He loves music, he wants his life to be in music.
MICHAEL: Well music is great. I love music. But he should finish what he started. (then) ... Anthony...
ANTHONY: I'm going my own way
MICHAEL: Your own way?
ANTHONY: Mm Hmm.
MICHAEL: Professional singer?
ANTHONY: That’s right.
MICHAEL: And what happens -- what happens if you fail?
ANTHONY: I won't fail.
MICHAEL: Men always believe that.
ANTHONY: I know.
MICHAEL: If you have a Law degree, you're taking out insurance. After that you can do whatever you want. You can work for me…
ANTHONY: I will never work for you. I have bad memories.
MICHAEL: Every family has bad memories.
ANTHONY: I will always be your son. But I will never have anything to do with your business.
MICHAEL: Anthony, finish the Law degree.
ANTHONY: No.
<Anthony leaves.>

And so the movie world was introduced to Franc D’Ambrosio as Anthony Corleone.

The film received 7 Academy Award nominations (including Best Picture,
Best Cinematography and Best Score) and featured Franc’s beautiful voice on the Original Motion Picture soundtrack. Franc became the first and only person to ever sing Carmine Coppala’s haunting “Godfather Theme” in the film trilogy.

The story - set in 1979 - focused on an aging Michael Corleone (Pacino) and his efforts to legitimatize his business and leave the world of organized crime behind him. Parts of the film were very loosely based on real historical events concerning the very short papacy of John Paul in 1978 and the collapse of the Banco Ambrosiano in 1982.

The films exciting climax comes at the Sicilian opera house where Anthony (Franc) is appearing and the family has come to celebrate his success. Against the backdrop of the opera (and Franc’s beautiful voice) the families enemies are eliminated. Before this, however, his enemies had dispatched an assassin to “remove” Michael. After the performance, on the steps of the opera house, the assassin misses his mark and instead kills Mary Corleone. She dies in her father’s arms as Kay (Diane Keaton) and Anthony (Franc) look on in horror.
